Bequests
Leave a Legacy of Care
A bequest to ME Respite is a powerful way to support people living with ME/CFS and their carers—long into the future. By including ME Respite in your will, you help ensure that compassionate respite care continues to be available for those who need it most.
Types of Bequests
There are several ways you can leave a gift in your will:
- Residual Bequest: The remainder of your estate after other gifts and expenses.
- Percentage Bequest: A portion of your estate, such as 10% or 25%.
- Specific Bequest: A fixed amount of money or a particular asset (e.g. property, shares).
- Whole Estate: Your entire estate, typically chosen by those without dependents or with a strong philanthropic vision 1.
Suggested Wording for Your Will
To include ME Respite in your will, you may wish to use wording like:
“I give [insert amount or description of gift] to Rest Assured Respite Charitable Trust, 48 Ara Kotinga, Whitford, RD1 Manurewa 2576, Charity Registration Number: CC54850, for its general charitable purposes. I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other authorised officer shall be sufficient discharge to my Executors.”
We recommend discussing your intentions with your lawyer to ensure your wishes are clearly documented. You may also want to inform your family so they understand your legacy plans.
Why Your Bequest Matters
Your gift will help ME Respite continue to offer:
- Safe and supportive respite options
- Resources and advocacy for people with ME/CFS
- A community of care for carers and families
Every bequest—large or small—makes a meaningful difference.
